Traveling

As I sit in our hotel room in Gatlinburg with the Smoky Mountains off in the distance, I decided I wanted to share some thoughts with you about something fun, traveling. It may a little out of place on here, but I can assure you that there are good reasons for me to talk about it, especially this week. I promise to try not to bore everyone. I also want to be able to share fun things that are happening around here with you.

My husband tells me all the time that he knew he had to marry me when we took a trip to California many years ago. This week happens to be our anniversary, so it just seems appropriate to me. Traveling has become one thing that I enjoy very much the older I get. I guess part of me feels like it awakes curiosity and imagination to see places I have never seen before. As a designer I find travel to be especially exciting; different architecture styles, color palettes, lighting design, new to me places to hunt for treasures, the list goes on and on. In keeping with that thought I will be sharing a new series on the blog soon.

One of our favorite things to do is find where the local haunts are. Now I know what you are thinking, you never do touristy things. Believe me we do every once in awhile (The safari in Canada has been my favorite thing so far) but for us its about seeing a place for what it has to offer behind the scenes so to speak. I love meeting people who live in the places we travel and hearing what its like to live there all the time. There is nothing like coming home from a vacation and unwinding, refreshing and having a whole new perspective on my goals.
