I will be the first to admit that nothing makes me smile quite like fresh flowers in the house. Fresh flowers from a garden that I could sow with my own hands are even better.

Lets talk about the colors and typed of flowers we went with for our gardens. We wanted our gardens to be a mix of cool and warm tone flowers. They are also going to vary in height to give our garden a more dramatic presence. While we were looking at flowers we made sure to chose ones that will come back every year, are deer resistant, could handle full to partial sun and that attract butterflies. I would love to walk outside and see a monarch butterfly or a rare hummingbird. One can only hope, anyway on to the types of flowers. We selected everything from Butterfly Weed to Foxgloves. It is fun for me that we can sit down together and shop for flowers. Our go to place to order flowers and plants from is Burpee Seeds. There are, however, many many places that offer plant delivery services especially during this time. We have no affiliation with Burpee in anyway, just wanted to share. I am also sharing a few pictures of what we are going with for one of our gardens.

One of the other things that I really wanted from the flowers we chose was the ability to cut them and bring them inside. The garden mums are going to look beautiful in a vase or mason jar on our table. Eventually we want to add a small bulb garden in our backyard that will really allow me to have “cut” flowers.
